CooperVision supports KAKS research
The German Children's Eye Cancer Foundation (KAKS) supports children diagnosed with retinoblastoma and their parents and raises awareness of the importance of early detection. If the malignant tumor in the eye is detected early, the affected children can be prevented from going blind.
CooperVision has been a partner of KAKS for many years and is currently donating one or three euros per MiSight® 1 day campaign box to one of the foundation's research projects.
Children's eyes in particular need our attention and protection. Poor vision does not hurt and children at a young age in particular do not notice when their eyesight deteriorates, but it becomes particularly critical when the deterioration is caused by a tumor such as retinoblastoma.
Since its foundation in 2009, the German Children's Eye Cancer Foundation (KAKS) has been researching methods for the early detection and cure of this aggressive tumor. CooperVision has been supporting KAKS for several years with donations and high-profile campaigns. The company's current goal is to collect 10,000 euros in donations to fund a promising KAKS research project. In future, children who have already been diagnosed with retinoblastoma are to be given the chance to be treated with a new immunotherapy (CAR-T cell therapy) that has already been successful in other areas. If successful, the therapy can help prevent the life-threatening spread of the disease in the body.
Opticians and ophthalmic practices can support KAKS with CooperVision: Until April 30, 2024, CooperVision will donate one euro to KAKS for every 30-pack of MiSight® 1 day one-day contact lenses and three euros for every 90-pack.
