Oculus and Optiswiss extend strategic partnership
The first contacts date back a few years, when Optiswiss AG, an independent Swiss spectacle lens manufacturer with a production site in Basel, and family-run Oculus GmbH, based in Wetzlar, discussed a possible collaboration. The result of the subsequent intensive joint development work led to the launch of the innovative progressive lens be 4ty+ BIOMETRICS at the end of 2021.
The high-precision measurement technology of the Myopia Master serves as the basis for high-tech optimization, which is now also used in the single-vision and near-comfort range. The biometric parameters obtained are incorporated directly into the production process and guarantee a precisely fitting lens for unique visual comfort. In addition, this technology ensures that the Myopia Master has now been opened up to a further area of application alongside its originally intended use in myopia management, which is also one of the most important pillars of any specialist store - the consultation and fitting of individual progressive lenses.
The fact that the cooperation to date has been an absolute success story for all sides is now sealed by the official commitment on both sides to continue the collaboration in the future and in the long term.
Matthias Kirchhübel, one of the three managing directors at Oculus: "The collaboration with Optiswiss AG is characterized by mutual trust and respect. The path we have taken together has been very successful so far and we are looking forward to the exciting projects that lie ahead of us." says The projects also include joint events, roadshows and webinars that have taken place over the past year and a half and are already being worked on at full speed."
The extension of the partnership is also a reason for Optiswiss to be pleased and at the same time an important signal to the stationary specialist trade. Johannes Schubart, Head of Global Marketing, Product Management & Tools at Optiswiss, comments: "In many respects, Oculus sets the benchmark in the field of ophthalmic and ophthalmologic measurement technology - with a high level of vertical integration in Wetzlar. The combination with our premium products 'Made in Basel' and the exclusive specialist retail strategy are a major asset in overcoming current challenges in the market and a unique differentiation criterion."
When two experts from different fields join forces, completely new opportunities often arise. In any case, it will be interesting to see how the joint journey continues and what concepts and products will emerge from it. The "Expo Days", which were held jointly for the first time at the beginning of 2023, are planned to continue at the end of October, where opticians can find out more about the new products from both companies and other partners in face-to-face meetings.
